New Orleans native David Castillo is a performing artist and producer who delivers “impassioned” (Los Angeles Times), “beautifully sung and confidently acted” (Opera News) performances in the U.S. and Europe. He served as a soloist with the LA Philharmonic, The Cleveland Orchestra, the New Orleans Opera, the LA Opera, the LA Master Chorale, The Industry, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Long Beach Opera, the Horizon Music Group, American Contemporary Ballet, Mojacar Flamenco, and Off-Broadway. He collaborated with Conductors Gustavo Dudamel, Franz Welser-Möst, Grant Gershon, Reimbert de Leeus, Christopher Rountree, Marc Lowenstein, Douglas Kinney Frost, and Brent McMunn and Directors Yuval Sharon, James Darrah, Ken Cazan, Ed Berkeley, Brad Dalton, and Andreas Mitisek. A frequent interpreter of new music, he performed world premieres of War of the Worlds, Theatre of the World,Bonnie and Clyde, Songs of Ascent, infinite self, Letters to Santa, NIMBUS, and HOPSCOTCH.
He made his European Debut at La Mairie du 3e arrondissement de Paris with Francois Chouchan performing Schubert's Winterreise, a work they previously performed in LA and New Orleans and also as a danced production with Luminario Ballet. On screen, he appeared on America’s Got Talent and in commercials for Burger King, Heineken, and PicBot. David is the Founder and Creative Director of Jukebox Castle, a company thats harvests productions based on the immediate influence of music+food. He graduated with Honors both from the University of Southern California and from Loyola University New Orleans.
